ARRANGE/
ORCHESTRATE
It all begins with an idea.
Pre-produciton allows us to map out the contours of any given project, and create the arrangements that realize the vision for the song.

Record
3 separate rooms allow for isolation among instruments, and nice overdub space for recording all elements of a project.

Mix
Even, accurate monitoring and the experience of having mixed several hundred projects ranging from classical ensembles, and jazz trios, to live big bands and orchestras make for an ideal mixing environment.

The studio of pianist, producer and Grammy nominated arranger, Thomas Zink.

About the Studio
Humble Beginnings
I remember the first time my best friend (an amazingly talented pianist/composer with his own studio) told me he was mixing his most recent project himself. I thought “you can’t do that, that’s a job for a specialist!” Well…
The more I thought about it, the clearer it became that he had a unique insight to the process and thought behind his project, so why shouldn’t he make those mix decisions? Each facet of our usually multidimensional careers as musicians requires total dedication, but with the right study, it is possible to grow in many different directions and to bring many gifts to the table. Some times experience in many areas helps each specific area blossom more fully. That’s been my philosophy as a music producer and in this DIY age, it has served me well. I am able to offer a wide range of experience and expertise in many facets of music production. My first love has always been piano, but I love every part of the process, and I hope it shows in the results I’m able to deliver.
Dynasty Quality
Numerous and varied projects have gone from seed to fruition within our doors. Projects ranging from Folk guitar duos, to Jazz trios to sextets, Motown projects and everything in between have been crafted here from pre-production through mixing. We've recorded live horn sections, and live string sections as large as 8 players at a time. Tom's goal is to provide a comfortable and productive atmosphere to aid the creative process.
I use an all-digital format, with plenty of high-end microphones, preamps and input gear to get a warm pleasing sound. The Yamaha O2R96 consoles provide 48 Channels of digital mixing with the highly accurate Dynaudio monitoring system to assure sonic accuracy. The heart of the studio is the beautiful, rich sounding 7.6 foot Yamaha C7 Disklavier Pro piano. It’s my favorite overall piano that I’ve ever played...seriously. It allows the piano performance to be recorded as data, edited, and recorded to audio on playback with perfect fidelity. Two additional rooms provide space and isolation to record several musicians at once.
